Definitions for the electoral geography, results and analytical terms used throughout Jamaica Electoral Analytics.

Cluster

A derived analytical grouping of Polling Divisions based on normalized polling-station location. It is not a formal electoral contest and does not have a persistent platform-assigned historical identity.

Compare

Dashboard mode that evaluates two selected elections, identified as Election A and Election B.

Constituency

The formal parliamentary contest geography used in a Jamaican General Election.

Election mode

Dashboard mode that examines one selected election.

Electoral Division

The formal contest geography for Local Government elections. In General Election analysis it is treated as an analytical subdivision of a Constituency.

EPM

A special election record category handled separately for comparable turnout analysis. Its votes remain part of party vote totals.

General Election

Parliamentary election in which Constituency is the formal contest level.

M
Margin

The percentage-point difference between JLP and PNP vote share for a resolved geography.

P
Polling Division

The lowest geographic result level exposed by the dashboard.

PNP

People's National Party.

R
Registered electors

Electors associated with the applicable election result records used for turnout analysis.

Rejected ballot

A ballot not included among valid votes.

To Date

Dashboard mode that displays the available historical election series for the current election type and geography.

Turnout

The share of the applicable registered electorate that participated in the election, using the platform's comparable turnout rules where required.

V
Valid votes

Ballots included in the result totals used to calculate party vote share.

Vote share

A party's percentage of valid votes cast in the selected geography.
